Bangkok
Transport - There is a skytrain in the city
of Bangkok and it offers a very quick commute from
within the city. From places like Silom, Siam Square,
Ekamai and Chatujak it has terminals where you can
access the system. If you don’t like the city
traffic this is a great way to travel about the area.
The Skytrain is ideal for anyone
seeking to rush through the congested traffic of Bangkok
streets. Another means of transportation is the bus
network. Travelling about the city by bus is very
economical and you can find out more about the routes
and fares by calling the Bangkok Transport Office
(999-9999).
You can also take the Microbus.
It has a guarantee on seats and TV viewing. Of course
you can always take a taxi around the city too and
fares vary. One of the best ways to get around the
city is on the open-air three-wheeled vehicles. These
are only in Thailand and they are similar to a taxi
and it is called a tuk tuk. It can take you almost
anywhere in Bangkok and there is
not a standard fare, rather the price is negotiated
before the trip. You will want to take a ride on this.
. There are no standard fare. Prices must be negotiated
before the trip. Normal fare starts at Bt20 for very
short distances and not over Bt 100 for a longer trip.
Another great way to see the city is on the the river
or in the Icanal System within the
city are the long-tailed boats. These can also be
scheduled for special river tours. The city also has
a very good rail system and it links Bangkok to other
cities all around the country.
Of course there is also Car Rentals,
bicycle and walking that will get you around too.
As you can see there are plenty of means of transportation
to take you all over the city of Bangkok. You will
have no problem seeing it all.
