Culture - You will enjoy all there is in
the way of culture in this city. Talk to some of the
people that live there and you will find that they
love all the offerings that their city has to offer.
There are many theatre groups and traditional dance
groups that have performances around the city. So
if you love to watch the dancers and actors you will
be in for a treat. The city also has its own orchestra,
the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra for all the music lovers.
The Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek
Road (tel: (02) 247 0028) have a variety of international
cultural performances, including classical music,
dance, ballet and pop concerts. You will need to call
ahead to see what shows will be playing during the
times that you are visiting. Be sure to book your
tickets early as the shows almost always sell out
and very early. The National Theatre, Rachini Road
(tel: (02) 224 1342) also has many shows too.
Other Cultural Events in the city
include the birthdays of the King and Queen of Thailand
are widely celebrated throughout Bangkok. There is
also a Royal Barge Procession that is incredibly spectacular.
The last one was held in 1999 and there were 52 of
the elegantly carved barges rowed by thousands of
costumed oarsmen for a fantastic sight.
There are plenty of Museums in Bangkok
where you can visit and admire all the wonderful works
of art. Be sure to take in as many of them as you
can. Visit the history and art museums and spend some
hours soaking up all the culture inside the buildings.
Culture is everywhere in Bangkok
so get out there and enjoy all that you can. You will
be very glad when you take in as many of the cultural
aspects that you can in the city.
